UB Closes Out Regular Season With Loss at Alumni Arena Natatorium

The Bulls were edged out in their final home and dual meet of the season by Cornell, 158-142.

Buffalo finished the regular season 5-7 overall and 3-5 in the Mid-American Conference.

Rooneem Sweeps 50, 100, 200 Freestyles

Inger Rooneem (Hinton, Alberta/Westminster Secondary) led the way for Coach Dorsi Raynold's team with wins in the 50 (:24.36), 100 (:52.79), and 200 (1:53.95) freestyles. She was also a member of the victorious 200 medley relay squad (1:48.49) along with Kim Theetge (Elmira, NY/Elmira Free Academy), Michelle Bricknell (Ajax, ONT/Pickering) and Carrie Quinlan (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda).

Theetge posted and individual victory in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.13) while Quinlan captured the 100 butterfly (:58.50). Dawn Hickey (Brockport, NY/Brockport) swept the 500 (5:08.36) and 1000 freestyles (10:37.10).

Seniors Honored in Last Home Meet

Seniors Rooneem, Theetge, and Yvette Smetana (Poughkeepsie, NY/Roy C. Ketchum) were honored in a brief ceremony prior to the meet in front of a capacity crowd that included several alumni of the UB swimming and diving program.
