Pfeffer Leads Bulls To Victory

Freshman Helps UB Remain Undefeated

The University at Buffalo women's soccer team got an outstanding performance from freshman Elizabeth Pfeffer (Liverpool, NY/Cicero North Syracuse) in defeating the Detroit-Mercy Titans 5-1.

Pfeffer got the Bulls on the board early with her first career collegiate goal in the 11th minute. Detroit fought back and tied the game at the 22:20 mark on a goal by Gwen Kilfoy. That goal was the first given up this season by the Bulls and goalie Jaime Adams (Rochester, NY/Greece-Arcadia). Dawn DelGiudice (Tannersville, PA/Pocono Mountain) scored in the 30th minute on a pass from Andrea Sullivan (Dublin, OH/Dublin Coffman) to put the Bulls back on top, 2-1, going into halftime.

In the second half, Pfeffer took control and put on a show. A couple minutes into the second half, Pfeffer fed the ball to Paula Sinclair (Hamilton, Ontario/Barton Secondary) for a goal at the 47:45 mark and a 3-1 Bulls lead. In the 74th minute, Pfeffer scored her second goal of the game on a pass from Sullivan for a 4-1 Bulls lead. That freshman connection clicked again as Sullivan fed Pfeffer less than a minute later for her third goal of the game and the final 5-1 Bulls win.

Pfeffer finished her outstanding night with three goals and an assist and fellow freshman Andrea Sullivan recorded three assists on the evening. The Bulls improved to 4-0-0 on the season while Detroit fell to 0-3-0. Buffalo will be in action again on Wednesday, September 15, when they play at Canisius.
