UB Falls in Double OvertimeBulls End Season with 2-1 Loss to OhioBUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's soccer team saw their season come to an end, falling 2-1 to Ohio University in the quarterfinal round of the MAC Tournament. The Bulls jumped out to an early lead as Paula Listrani (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) scored on a free kick from 20-yards out to give UB the 1-0 lead at the 15:44 mark. The Bulls then had to battle the weather and the Bobcats for the remainder of the night. Both teams fought through a hard rain and windy conditions, exchanging shots and field position. Late in the second half, Ohio used that rainy elements to their advantage with under three minutes to play. A long pass skipped off the wet grass and gave Lori Spitler a break away down the left side. She then crossed it to a wide open Colleen O'Brien to tie the score at the 87:25 mark and send it to overtime. Neither team could find the net in the first overtime period, but the Bobcats didn't take long in the second overtime. Just under two minutes into the second overtime, Spitler again broke free down the right side and crossed it to Jennifer Barber, who knocked in the game winner at the 106:45 mark. The Bulls ended their season with an overall record of 13-5-1. Ohio improves to 9-9-1 and will move on in the MAC Tournament to face Eastern Michigan in Ypsilanti, MI.
