BUFFALO, NY - After a season in which she made more saves than during her previous two years as a starter combined, goalkeeper Anna-Lesa Calvert (Dallas, TX/Bryan Adams) was placed on the Mid-American Conference All-Academic Team.

The senior carries a 3.67 GPA as a psychology major and is a UB Scholar Athlete. This year, Calvert made 121 saves, three more than she had made during her first two seasons as a starter at UB. Her seven wins this year also moved her past Jennifer Wicher (1990-92) to move into second place with 22 career wins.

Calvert, a clutch performer for the Bulls, earned MAC Player of the Week honors for the week of Oct. 18-24, as she helped keep the Bulls in the playoff hunt with two big wins, making 19 saves on the week. On Oct. 24, Calvert made a career-high 13 saves, including three diving stops, as Buffalo turned away league co-champion Ohio, 2-0.

Calvert's 121 saves this season was the sixth-best total in school history and her 239 career saves placed fourth. During her career, Calvert posted 11 shutouts and a 1.37 goals against average.

The defensive backbone of the Bulls for the past three seasons, Calvert also earned an assist on the Bulls' go-ahead goal in a 5-2 win over Toledo on Oct. 15. She booted a ball past midfield and after it hopped past the Rockets' defense, senior Jenny Dannecker (East Amherst, NY/Holy Angels Academy) was able to beat the goaltender on a breakaway.

Buffalo finished its season 7-11-1 under 10th-year head coach Jean-A. Tassy.
