Devon Russell Earns All-MAC Honors

Women's Soccer Player Named First Team All-MAC In Second Season For Bulls

BUFFALO, NY - Sophomore defender Devon Russell (Albany, NY/Academy of the Holy Names) of the University at Buffalo women's soccer team has been named to the All-MAC first team as announced by the Mid-American Conference at the Women's Soccer Tournament Banquet held in Athens, OH.

Russell led a Buffalo defense that held opponents to a goal or less in ten games during the 2001 campaign. Offensively, she scored twice and added an assist while starting all 18 games for the Bulls. Her first goal of the season came in a 4-1 victory over Canisius in the season opener while her second tally was the difference in a 3-1 victory over Kent State on September 16.

For her career, Russell has five goals and four assists for 14 points and has started all 38 games during the past two seasons.

Buffalo finished the season with a 9-9 overall mark and a 6-2 MAC record. The Bulls, who made their fourth straight appearence in the MAC Tournament, were eliminated from post-season play with a 7-0 loss at Miami on November 6.
