Stephanie Velez Named to Two All-MAC Teams Freshman forward named to All-MAC Second Team and All-MAC Freshman Team CLEVELAND, OH – The Mid-American Conference announced its 2009 women’s soccer All-MAC teams on Thursday night, with UB freshman Stephanie Velez being named to the All-MAC Second Team and the All-MAC Freshman team after a breakout rookie season. Velez was a key component of the Buffalo offense, leading the Bulls in goals, points and shots.
Velez finished the 2009 season with a team high 13 points, including six goals and one assist, and also led the Bulls with 29 shots, 13 of which were on goal. Velez was an intricate part of Buffalo’s MAC wins, scoring three out of the four Buffalo goals in those two games, including the game-winner over Northern Illinois. Velez ended the regular season ranked third in the MAC in goals, and first in points and goals for conference games only. Buffalo ended the 2009 season with a 3-15-1 record (2-8-1 MAC), falling just out of postseason contention.
