Bowling Green Advances to Final of Women's Soccer MAC Tournament

Falcons defeat Western Michigan, 2-1

BUFFALO, NY - The seventh-seeded Bowling Green Falcons scored a 2-1 win over No. 6 Western Michigan in the semifinals of the Mid-American Conference Women's Soccer Tournament, held at the University at Buffalo. Sophomore forward Susan Wallace (Litchfield, OH/Buckeye) scored the gamewinner on a flurry in front of the net at the 75:11 mark to improve BGSU's record to 10-9-1 overall. Western Michigan ends its season with a 10-9-2 record overall.

Bowling Green's Tracy Gleixner (Hoffman Estates, IL/Schaumburg) opened the scoring at the 33:36 mark, scoring off a pass from senior Janice Mentrup (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hill). Despite being outshot 10-1 in the first half, the Broncos kept things close when freshman Kate Koscielniak (Brighton, MI/Brighton) came off the bench and tied the game with less than five minutes to go in the opening half. Bowling Green, however, outplayed the Broncos and dominated the pace of the game in the second half, resulting in Wallace's game-winning goal. The Falcons finished with a 19-2 advantage in shots. Western Michigan goalkeeper Megan Ramey (Sylvania, OH/Northview) recorded five saves in net.

With the win, Bowling Green advances to the MAC Championship game against the winner of tonight's other semifinal match between No. 1 Buffalo and No. 4 Miami (OH).
