BUFFALO, NY- The Mid-American Conference announced its 2006 women’s soccer All-MAC teams, as well as its Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year and Coach of the Year on Thursday, as voted by the league’s head coaches. The Conference honored UB sophomore Brooke McCalla (Pickering, Ontario/Dunbarton), naming the midfielder to the All-MAC Second Team. The honor is a first for McCalla, as she was named to the MAC’s All-Freshman team at the conclusion of the 2005 season.

In 2006, McCalla keyed the Buffalo midfield while leading the team in assists, tallying six on the season. Additionally, McCalla earned MAC Player of the Week honors for the week of October 9, in which she nailed a duo of goals and two assists to lead the Bulls to back-to-back victories over Western Michigan and Northern Illinios.

Miami forward Kathleen Vistica took home MAC Player of the Year honors. Vistica led the RedHawks in goals (9), assists (6) and points (24) and set career highs in both goals and points during the 2006 season. Central Michigan’s Stephanie Martin was selected as Freshman of the Year after scoring 21 points on nine goals and three assists for the Chippewas while first year Ball State head coach Michelle Salmon was voted Coach of the Year by her colleagues.

Buffalo finished the season 8-10-0 overall and 4-6-0 in the Mid-AmericanConference under 12th-year head coach Jean-A. Tassy.
