Vescio, Griffiths Named To CoSIDA Academic All-District TeamBUFFALO, NY – Junior Andrea Vescio (Niagara Falls, ON/A.N. Myer) and senior Heidi Griffiths (Clarence, NY/Clarence) were both named to the 2007 College Sports Information Director’s of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District I University Division Women’s Soccer Second Team on Thursday. Griffiths is a two-time honoree, as she was recognized in 2006 while the honor is the first for Vescio.
Vescio is a Management major, carrying a 3.99 GPA. A key offensive player for the Bulls, Vescio has started every game this season and leads the team in points with 13 after scoring four goals while adding five assists. Vescio also leads the team in shots, with 53. Griffiths is a Biological Sciences major, carrying a 3.99 GPA. Despite an injury-plagued season, the senior is currently tied for the team lead in scoring, notching four goals this season. Griffiths also added an assist to bring her 2007 point total to nine points, despite playing in just seven games.
The University at Buffalo women’s soccer team is currently 3-6-1 in the MAC (6-10-2 overall) and will play its final game of the season tonight against Kent State at 6:00 pm at UB Stadium. |
