UB Drops Third Straight

Bulls Close Out Regular Season, Host MAC Tournament Game Tuesday

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's soccer team lost their third straight game, closing out the regular season with a 1-0 double overtime loss to Kent. UB will host a MAC Tournament first round game on Tuesday against Ohio, beginning at 4 p.m.

The game was tied at 0-0 at the end of regulation, but not before both teams missed chances at scoring. In the first half, UB's Paula Listrani (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) missed a penalty kick that sailed wide left. In the second half, Kent had a breakaway with two players going against UB goalie Jaime Adams (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia). Tiffani Richardson of Kent took the shot but Adams made a great save to force overtime.

Kent would knock in the game winner with under four minutes to go in the second overtime period. Emily Badger collected a loose ball and knocked it back to Nicki Downey who scored the game winner at the 116:28 mark for the 1-0 win.

It was the final regular season game for UB as the Bulls honored four seniors on this year's team with a halftime ceremony. The four seniors are Dawn DelGiudice (Tannersville, PA/Pocono Mountain), Tara Donahue (Port Crane, NY/Chenango Valley), Lauren Hartmayer (Clarence Center, NY/Clarence) and Melissa Korosec (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott).

Despite the loss, UB's season is still alive. The Bulls, 13-4-1 overall, finish fourth in the MAC regular season with a conference record of 7-4-0. UB will host a first round MAC Tournament game against Ohio University on Tuesday, Nov. 2, at 4 p.m.
