UB Still Undefeated

Bulls Win 10th Game of the Season

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's soccer team remained undefeated with a 2-0 shutout win over Northern Illinois in a Mid-American Conference game Sunday afternoon.

It was a defensive battle as both teams fought for control in the first half. Each team had just two shots in the first half and went to the break with no score.

In the second half, the Bulls offense started attacking and finally broke through the Huskie defense in the 52nd minute. Paula Listrani (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) dished the ball to Samantha Swerdloff (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) in the box whose shot was deflected by NIU goalie Stefanie Maurer. UB's Tara Donahue (Port Crane, NY/Chenango Valley) was right there and knocked the loose ball into the net for a 1-0 Bulls lead.

UB added the insurance goal in the 65th minute when Swerdloff dropped the ball off for Elizabeth Pfeffer (Liverpool, NY/Cicero North Syracuse) who scored her sixth goal of the season and gave UB the 2-0 lead.

Goalkeeper Jaime Adams (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) made a number of great stops, recording five saves and her eighth shutout of the season.

The Bulls improved to 10-0-1 on the season, extending their unbeaten streak to 11 games. UB is also 4-0 in the MAC and will look to extend that winning streak next weekend when they host Ball State and Miami.
