UB Notches Win in Tournament Warm-up

Bulls Beat St. Bonaventure in Prepartation for MAC Tournament

OLEAN, NY — In the last regular season game before the MAC tournament, Buffalo defeated St. Bonaventure 2-0 Wednesday afternoon.

It was a scoreless first half as neither team could find the net. Buffalo outshot the Bonnies 8-3 on the half, but could not capitalize on their chances until late in the second half. Paula Listrani (Rochester, NY/Greece-Athena) scored of an assist from Nicole Olszewski (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) at the 73:06 for a 1-0 UB lead. The goal by Listrani was her team-best 13th of the season, matching her output from each of the past two years. The Bulls would add to that lead with less than four minutes to play. Kelly Damon (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca East) scored her first career collegiate goal at the 87:02 mark off an assist from Theresa Potenza (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East) for a 2-0 UB win.

The Bulls defense was again the key to the win. Goalkeeper Emily Cox (Fairport, NY/Fairport) recorded her fourth shutout on the season and it was the eighth shutout of the season for the UB team. The defense held St. Bonaventure to just eight total shots in the game, and the Bonnies registered no shots on goal.

Buffalo improves their record to 13-5-1 overall, and have already clinched the MAC regular season title with an 8-2-1 mark. UB will host Toledo in MAC tournament quarterfinal action on Tuesday, October 31, at 4pm.
