BUFFALO, NY - Sophomore Kelley Vander Mallie (Penfield, NY/Penfield) scored her first collegiate goal in the third minute to lift the University at Buffalo to its fifth consecutive win over Ohio University, as Buffalo downed Ohio, 1-0, in Mid-American Conference action on a drizzly Sunday afternoon at UB Stadium.

Vander Mallie, a transfer from the University of Pittsburgh, delivered the knockout kick after sophomore Katie Fage (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem Central) took a shot from 15 yards out that hit Ohio's 2004 All-MAC defender Crystal Reed. The ball deflected to the right and Vander Mallie was able to tap the ball into the left side of the net. Fage earned her team-leading third assist of the season on the play.

The win gave Buffalo (5-11-1 overall, 3-7 MAC) its fifth straight win over Ohio (3-12 overall, 1-8 MAC), with three of the wins coming on UB's home turf. It is Buffalo's longest active winning streak against a MAC opponent, last losing to Ohio 2-1 on Sept. 22, 2000 at RAC Field.

Fage and Vander Mallie kept the pressure on Ohio taking seven of Buffalo's 10 shots in a game marked by tough midfield play, as Buffalo was charged with 11 fouls in the first half and 16 overall. Ohio drew nine fouls.

The Bobcats kept pressure on the Bulls, taking six shots in the first half and three in the second, but senior goalkeeper Anna-Lesa Calvert (Dallas, TX/Bryan Adams) turned away all three shots on goal.

Calvert is just four saves away from becoming the first goaltender in UB history to make 100 saves in back-to-back seasons. Her only save in the second half also put her in third place on UB's all-time list with 335 career saves, passing Rachelle Galipeau (1991-94).

Katie Overmann stopped four shots for the Bobcats in just her fifth game in goal after being converted from a midfielder midway through the season.

Buffalo wraps up its season with Senior Night on Friday as it hosts Kent State at 6:00 pm in another MAC match.
