BUFFALO, NY — The University at Buffalo women's soccer team defeated Toledo 3-1 Sunday afternoon. The win by UB gave the Bulls the MAC regular season title and the number one seed for the upcoming Mid-American Conference tournament.

The Bulls got the scoring started early in the game, as Cherie Rogers (Rochester, NY/Greece-Athena) scored from 10-yards out off a pass from Paula Listrani (Rochester, NY/Greece-Athena) at the 14:42 mark. The score remained 1-0 into the second half before the Bulls added their second goal.

Off a free kick, Listrani dumped the ball to Jennifer Keefe (Elmira, NY/Elmira Free Academy) who then fed a wide open Heather Collins (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) who knocked it into the back of the net to give UB a 2-0 lead. Toledo would respond as Odia Jahurally scored off a penalty kick to cut the lead to 2-1. Listrani again found the open teammate off a free kick, this time hitting Keefe who scored the third UB goal at the 71:45 mark and securing the 3-1 victory.

Buffalo improved to 12-5-1 overall and 8-2-1 in the MAC while Toledo fell to 5-10-1 overall and 4-6-1 in the MAC. With that win, the Bulls also secure first place in the MAC regular season, the first UB team to win a MAC regular season title. In addition, Buffalo earns the number one seed in the MAC tournament. UB will host the number eight seed on Tuesday, October 31, and if the Bulls win that game, UB will host the semifinals and finals of the MAC tournament on from November 3-5.
