Bulls Fall to Bowling Green in OT

Bulls outshoot the Falcons 16-6 in loss

BUFFALO, NY - Despite outshooting Bowling Green and holding a lead for much of the game , the UB women's soccer team fell to the Falcons, 2-1, in overtime on Sunday afternoon at RAC Field. Bowling Green seemed to begin the game flat and the Bulls were able to capitalize. They outshot the Falcons, 16-6, but in the end, Bowling Green slipped away with a 2-1 win.

The Bulls got on the board first in the 23rd minute when Nicole Olszewski (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) scored on a penalty kick after a Falcon defender was called for a handball in the box. The Bulls dominated Bowling Green for the remainder of the half as they held the Falcons to only one first-half shot.

Bowling Green tied the game at the 70:80 mark when a UB defender failed to clear the ball and Britt Anderson swooped in and headed the ball into the net to tie the game.

In overtime, Leslie Dawley struck a centering pass that Kristy Coppes was able to head to a wide open Samantha Meister who was streaking down the left side. She shot the ball past a diving Anna-Lesa Calvert (Dallas, TX/Bryan Adams), from 10 yards out, for the gamewinner just two minutes into the extra stanza.

The loss drops the Bulls to 4-7-5 overall and 3-5-2 in the MAC. Bowling Green improves to 9-6-2 overall and 6-3-1 in the conference. It marks the seventh time this season that a UB game has been decided in overtime.
