Bulls Fall to Toledo

The University at Buffalo women’s soccer team fell to Toledo, 3-1, on the road Friday afternoon. The Rockets took an early lead scoring a goal in the third minute of play and extended their lead with another goal at the 29:04 mark of the first half, sending the Bulls into halftime with a two-goal deficit. The Bulls got on the board midway through the second half as leading goal scorer Stephanie Velez belted a free kick into the far right corner of the net at 62:40. The unassisted goal was Velez’s fifth of the season. Toledo put the game away, scoring their third goal of the game at the 66:22 mark, resulting in the 3-1 final. Amy Coron faced 21 shots from the Rocket offense, making 13 saves.

Bulls Drop Road Match at Bowling Green

The team dropped their game to Bowling Green, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon. The only goal of the game came five minutes into the match with Bowling Green’s Keely Chandler heading a shot off a corner kick to the back of the Buffalo net. The corner kick advantage for Bowling Green made the difference in the game, as they saw 15 corner kicks in the match, while UB saw none. Freshman Katie Kerr had a team-high three shots in the game. The Bulls were outshot 24-8, forcing Coron to come up big for Buffalo. Coron made 13 saves, her second consecutive game of seeing more than 20 shots.

The 13 saves against Bowling Green put Coron at 105 on the year, the third time in her career she has amassed more than 100 saves in a single season.
