Bulls Drop Road Match at Bowling Green UB Goalkeeper Amy Coron makes 13 saves
BOWLING GREEN, OH – The University at Buffalo women’s soccer team dropped their game to Bowling Green, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon. UB's veteran goalkeeper Amy Coron had 13 saves in net. The 13 saves in today’s game puts her at 105 on the year, the third time in her career she has amassed more than 100 saves in a single season.
The only goal of the game came five minutes into the match with Bowling Green’s Keely Chandler heading a shot off a corner kick to the back of the Buffalo net. The corner kick advantage for Bowling Green made the difference in the game, as they saw 15 corner kicks in the match, while UB saw none. Freshmen Katie Kerr and Stephanie Velez each had chances in the first half but couldn’t get past the Falcons defense. The second half was scoreless, as Buffalo looked to tie the game. Kerr added two more shots, while Martina Pettenuzzo, Taylor Thompson and Lindsey Bailey each got a piece of the ball, notching one shot each. Kerr led the team with three shots on the day.
The Bulls were outshot 24-8, forcing Coron to come up big for Buffalo. Coron made 13 saves in today’s match, her second consecutive game of seeing more than 20 shots. UB will return home for a three-game homestand to finish out the season. The Bulls will first take on Akron, with the game set for Friday, October 23 at 5 pm at UB Stadium.
