Bulls play to fifth tie of the season

BUFFALO, NY - The UB women's soccer team battled Toledo to a 1-1 tie on Friday afternoon in a cold and rainy affair at RAC Field.

Following a scoreless first half, Toledo got on the board first when Melissa Lesage took a pass from teammate Robin Davidson, raced down the left side and chipped the ball in over the outstretched hands of UB goalkeeper Anna-Lesa Calvert (Dallas, TX/Bryan Adams). Lesage's goal, at the 52:39 mark, was her team-best ninth of the season. Emily Russell (Averill Park, NY/Academy of the Holy Names) tied the contest in the 68th minute when she headed in a sensational centering pass from Natalia Crofut (East Aurora, NY/Iroquois). The Bulls had incredible opportunities to score late in regulation and in the overtime periods. However, several of their shots either sailed just over or just wide of the net or hit the dreaded post. Toledo goalkeeper Elise Donovan was very effective for the Rockets as she turned away several UB shots in the latter stages of the contest.

With the tie, the Bulls move to 4-6-5 overall and 3-4-2 in the MAC. Toledo improves to 6-6-2 overall and 3-5-2 in the conference. Buffalo will remain at home and host Bowling Green on Sunday at 11:30 am.
