BOWLING GREEN, OH - With five members of the preseason starting lineup on the bench with injuries, the University at Buffalo women's soccer team must rally in its final three Mid-American Conference games in order to make the conference playoffs, thanks to a 4-0 loss at Bowling Green on Sunday.

An own goal by Buffalo (4-10-1 overall, 2-6 MAC), the team's second in as many games, in the fourth minute was followed by three more first-half goals to keep Bowling Green (10-6 overall, 6-2 MAC) in the race for one of the league's top four playoff slots, which would ensure a home game in the first round of the eight-team tournament.

Bowling Green dominated play in the first half, firing 12 shots and earning four corners to Buffalo's five shots and one corner. The Falcons expanded their lead in the 10th minute as Lindsay Carter scored on a play assisted by Britt Anderson and Julie Trundle.

The Bulls contained the soaring Falcons until the 40th minute, when Kristen McDonald scored on a play assisted by Tiernay Tilford and Susan Hunter. The Falcons put in their fourth goal 23 seconds before halftime, as Leah Eggleton scored her second goal of the season.

The second half contained much more midfield play, as the Falcons took only five shots and the Bulls managed only one, but the Falcons did still take six corners in the half.

Sophomore Katie Fage (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem Central) took two of Buffalo's six shots.

Senior Anna-Lesa Calvert (Dallas, TX/Bryan Adams) made five stops in the loss. Ali Shingler and Christy Zabek combined for one save in the shutout for Bowling Green.

Buffalo now must win each of its final three MAC games, all at UB Stadium. On Friday, Buffalo will try to snap its two-game losing skid against Akron in a 6:00 pm game. On Sunday, Buffalo hosts Ohio at 1:00 pm before wrapping up the regular season with Kent State on Friday, Oct. 28 at 6:00 pm.
