Bulls Fall 3-0 in MAC Contest at Toledo

Rockets score twice in second half to wrap up conference win against Buffalo

TOLEDO, OH - Boosted by 21 shots, the University of Toledo was able to shut down the University at Buffalo women's soccer team, 3-0, in Mid-American Conference action at Scott Park on Friday afternoon.

Toledo (9-5 overall, 4-3 MAC) took 12 shots in the first half, but it was an own goal in the 41st minute that finally got it on the board. Senior goalkeeper Anna-Lesa Calvert (Dallas, TX/Bryan Adams) made five of her eight saves in the half for Buffalo (4-9-1 overall, 2-5 MAC). She leads the MAC with 83 saves on the season.

The Rockets took six corners in the first half on their way to eight in the game while the Bulls took six, helping the Rockets to 21 shots while the Bulls took six.

The Rockets added to their 1-0 lead in the 63rd minute when Candice Choquette fed Kelly Langenbeck for a goal. Eleven minutes later, Rachel White scored on a give from Tara White to close out the scoring.

Jen Whipple made two saves in the first 80 minutes in goal before Molly Patterson also made two stops in the final 10 minutes of the game for Toledo.

Freshman Jenessa Banwell (Toronto, Ontario/Birchmount Park) took three of Buffalo's shots to lead the offense.

The Bulls now face a near must-win to keep their postseason hopes alive on Sunday against defending MAC champion Bowling Green (9-6 overall, 5-2 MAC), who is riding a four-game winning streak, in a 1:00 pm game.
