Rockets Sneak By Bulls, 2-1

Nikki Wilson scores first goal of the season

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women’s soccer team fell to the Toledo Rockets 2-1 in Buffalo on Friday night in what was the squad’s first home match in almost a month. Buffalo’s second half rally was sparked by defender Nikki Wilson (El Paso, TX/Franklin) who scored the Bulls’ only goal at the 82:16 mark.

The Rockets, who, remained undefeated in the Mid-American Conference following the victory, scored first in the 30th minute on a Molly Cornwell goal to give Toledo the 1-0 advantage. After nearly 40 minutes of scoreless action, Toledo notched another goal from Cornwell at 77:23.

Buffalo continued to apply offensive pressure, however, as Wilson found the back of the net on an unassisted laser from 35-yards out.

UB goalkeeper Amy Coron (Farmington, NY/Victor) finished the game with eight saves while Toledo goalkeeper Andrea Plewes stopped three shots for the Rockets.

Buffalo will return to UB Stadium on Sunday, as the Bulls are set to face Bowling Green. Game time is slated for 1:00 pm.
