Listrani Named MAC Player of the Week

UB Forward Honored with Conference Award

BUFFALO, NY — UB women's soccer player Paula Listrani (Rochester, NY/Greece-Athena) was named Mid-American Conference Player of the Week today by the MAC office for her accomplishments this past weekend.

The Bulls moved into first place in the Mid-American Conference standings with two wins this past weekend, both behind Listrani's efforts. On Friday night, Listrani scored two goals, including the game-winning goal, and assisted on a third goal as UB defeated Northern Illinois 4-0. Two days later, Listrani again led the team to a crucial conference win at Western Michigan. The teams were tied 0-0 going into a second overtime period when Listrani scored the gamewinner, giving Buffalo a 1-0 win and securing a first-place standing in the conference. For the week, she recorded three goals and an assist in two games.

Listrani now leads the team with 10 goals, six assists and 26 points on the season. With her performance this past weekend, she also established a new school record for career points scored with 103, surpassing the 102 points scored by Nora Bender. In addition, Listrani is just one goal shy of the UB career record for goals scored. She currently has 42 goals on her career.

The Bulls are 10-4-0 overall this season and 6-1-0 and in first place in the MAC. UB will play on the road this weekend, facing second-place Miami on Friday, October 13, at 4 pm, and then at Ball State on Sunday, October 15, at 1 pm.
