The University at Buffalo women’s soccer team closed out its longest road stint of the season, playing the last two of six road games. The Bulls returned to Buffalo following their second weekend of Mid-American Conference games 0-1-1 on the weekend, for a league record so far of 0-3-1. Fage Finding The Open Woman
Senior midfielder Katie Fage (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem) notched two assists over the weekend, finding Brooke McCalla (Pickering, ON/Dunbarton) on Friday for the Bulls’ first goal against Western Michigan and then assisting on Andrea Vescio’s (Niagara Falls, ON/A.N. Myer) goal against Northern Illinois. Fage, who has started all 12 games, has three assists this season. Just Heating Up
Brooke McCalla has been hot offensively through the Bulls’ first 12 games, as the junior attack has racked up 11 points and is tied with Heidi Griffiths (Clarence, NY/Clarence) for the team lead in goals, with four. McCalla, last season’s assist leader, has tallied three assists so far in 2007, which ties her for second place with Fage. Roth Excelling In Senior Campaign
Senior defender Samantha Roth (Rochester, NY/Arcadia) has had a solid final year in Blue and White. Roth scored her first career goal with six seconds remaining to send the Bulls into overtime against Western Michigan on Friday. Roth also notched her first career assist this season, to give the senior three points in 2007. Next up Buffalo continues league play as the Bulls return to the friendly confines of UB Stadium after spending nearly one month on the road. UB is set to face Toledo on Friday at 7:00 pm and Bowling Green on Sunday at 1:00 pm. The Rockets are 4-0 in the MAC and sport a 9-2-1 overall record. On Sunday, Toledo defeated Central Michigan 2-0 while the Rockets topped Eastern Michigan in double overtime on Friday, 2-1. Bowling Green, meanwhile, is 1-3-0 in the MAC (4-7-1 overall). The Falcons fell to Eastern Michigan on Sunday, 2-0 and lost to Central Michigan on Friday, 2-1 in double overtime. |
