After battling through 41 scoreless minutes, Vescio finally got the Bulls on the board in the 42nd minute of play when she collected a pass from Banwell to score her fourth goal of the season. Buffalo entered the half with the one goal advantage, despite being outshot in the first half 8-4 by Northern Illinois. The Huskies also owned the advantage in corner kicks, firing five in the first half compared to the Bulls’ three.

Buffalo goalkeeper Amy Coron (Farmington, NY/Victor) finished just short of the shutout, as the Huskies capitalized on a scoring opportunity late in the second stanza when Karen Enockson scored on a penalty kick in the 75th minute.

Coron tallied nine saves in the contest, while NIU goalkeeper Lindsey Curnock picked up six saves between the pipes.

With the win, UB evens its MAC record at 3-3 (6-7 overall) while Northern Illinois drops to 2-4 in the MAC (3-8-2 overall).

The Bulls return to action on Friday, October 13 at UB Stadium with a MAC match-up against the Toledo Rockets. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
