Sinclair Honored As MAC Player Of The WeekBUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo women's soccer player Paula Sinclair (Hamilton, Ontario/Barton Secondary) earned Mid-American Conference Player of the Week honors after leading the Bulls to wins over conference rivals Northern Illinois and Western Michigan this past weekend. The Bulls, who improved to 6-2 in the conference, have gained sole possession of first place in the MAC standings.
Sinclair was pivotal in helping the Bulls take control of first place by notching her fifth and sixth goals of the season in a 3-1 victory over second place Western Michigan on Sunday. The senior, who was honored prior to the game for playing in her final regular season MAC home game of her career, didn't waste any time giving the Bulls a 1-0 lead, scoring nine minutes and 10 seconds into the game. The teams then traded goals before Sinclair knocked in her second of the game in the 84th minute to secure the victory. The two-goal performance, the first of her career, was just two days after she set up the first goal of the game in a 2-1 victory over Northern Illinois. Sinclair, who now is second on the team in scoring with six goals and two assists, has recorded a point in five of the team's last seven games. Prior to this season, the Ontario native had recorded only four points (two goals) in her previous 49 games. Sinclair became the second women's soccer player to win the conference's player of the week award. Sophomore Nicole Olszewski (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) was honored by the conference earlier in the season. The Bulls have another tough week ahead of them as they travel to Marshall on Friday,
October 12 (7 p.m.) and Ohio on Sunday, October 14 (1 p.m.). Marshall is 2-1-1 in its last four games and
Ohio is 4-1 in its last five MAC contests. |
