Listrani Nets Winner in OT, Sets School Record

Bulls Record Fifth Straight Win, Lead MAC Standings

KALAMAZOO, MI - It was a battle between two of the top teams in the MAC, and it came down to a Paula Listrani (Rochester, NY/Greece-Athena) record-setting goal in the second overtime period to carry UB to a 1-0 win at Western Michigan. With the game-winning goal, Listrani recorded her 103rd career point, setting the UB school record for most career points.

Both teams had chances to win the game in regulation. Western Michigan's Cheryl Fox had one shot go off the post and another that was saved by UB goalkeeper Jaime Adams (Rochester, NY/Greece-Athena), who had three saves on the day while recording her third shutout of the season. The Bulls had their chances as well, as Elizabeth Pfeffer (Liverpool, NY/Cicero North Syracuse) had a shot that was saved on a diving attempt by WMU goalkeeper Megan Ramey.

The teams played 15 minutes of overtime, with neither team finding the net, and entered a second 15-minute overtime period to decide the winner. With a little over six minutes remaining in the game, UB senior Paula Listrani found the back of the net to give the Bulls the victory, their fifth straight.

It was another record breaking night for Listrani, who recorded her 10th goal of the season. It was also her 26th point of the year and 103rd point of her career, as she surpasses Nora Bender for the UB all-time record in points scored. She now has 42 goals on her career as well, one shy of the all-time school record. She is also second all-time in assists with 19.

UB improves to 10-4-0 overall and 6-1-0 in the MAC, and with a loss by Miami, the Bulls are now in sole possession of first place in the MAC standings. The Bulls will travel next weekend to play at Miami on October 13, and at Ball State on October 15.
