Listrani Passes Milestone in UB WinBUFFALO, NY The UB women's soccer team started off their four-game road stretch in perfect fashion, recording a 4-0 win at Northern Illinois in Mid-American Conference play. The Bulls were led by Paula Listrani (Rochester, NY/Greece-Athena), who recorded two goals and an assist, and moved past the 100-career point mark in the process. UB got on the board early in the first half as Listrani stole a pass and scored on a shot from 12-yards out in the 10th minute of play to give the Bulls a 1-0 lead. A short time later, Listrani assisted Heather Collins (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) for her first goal of the season, and a 2-0 UB lead at the 18:09 mark. That score would hold until the second half when the Bulls would add to their lead. Listrani scored off a penalty kick at the 76:00 mark to push the lead to 3-0 late in the game. The Bulls then added one more before the night was over as Emily Russell (Albany, NY/Academy of the Holy Names) scored her fifth goal of the season in the 79th minute for the 4-0 win. The UB defense was again the key to the win, recording its fifth shutout of the season and the third in the last four games. The Bulls have allowed just one goal during their four-game winning streak. Sophomore goalkeeper Emily Cox (Fairport, NY/Fairport) recorded a personal-best 12 saves in the game to help preserve her third shutout of the season. It was a record breaking night for Listrani, as she recorded her ninth goal, sixth assist and 24th point of the season. With the two goals, she has moved into second place on the all-time goals scored list, just two behind first place. Her assist also moved her into second in career assists with 19, four behind first place. Listrani also became just the second women's soccer player in UB history to surpass the 100-career point mark, as she now has 101 career points. She needs just two more points to become the school's all-time leading points scorer. With the win, UB improves to 9-4-0 overall and 5-1-0 in the MAC, and Northern Illinois falls to 3-9-1 overall and 1-4-1 in the conference. The win by UB, coupled with losses by Western Michigan and Ohio, moves the Bulls into a first-place tie with Miami in the MAC standings. UB will play at Western Michigan in a key MAC game on Sunday afternoon.
