MT. PLEASANT, MI – The University at Buffalo women’s soccer team fell to Central Michigan, 4-0, this afternoon at the CMU Soccer Complex.

The undefeated Chippewas were a tough opponent for the Bulls, especially with Buffalo playing a man down, as a UB player was given a red card in the first minute of play. Central Michigan was awarded a penalty kick at the 1:25 mark of the game and took an early 1-0 lead off the shot. Central Michigan scored two more quick goals in the 15th minute of play and the 23rd minute of play to extend their lead. The Bulls were only able to get two shots in the first half, with Aubrey Stahl and Catie Hilliard each collecting a shot.

The Chippewas scored their final goal of the game eight minutes into the second half to clinch the 4-0 win. The Bulls were never able to recover or get past the solid Chippewa defense. Stahl was able to get one more shot on goal in the second half, but was unable to put the ball in the back of the net.

“We had an early red card and it's hard to play a man down for 89 minutes, but the girls gave it their all out there today,” said head coach Michael Thomas.

UB goalkeeper Danielle Quigley had nine saves in net after being faced with 29 shots on the day from the Chippewa offense.

The Bulls will return home for a pair of games at UB Stadium next weekend. Buffalo will play host to Western Michigan on Friday, October 9 at 7 pm followed by Northern Illinois on Sunday, October 11 at 12 pm.
