HUNTINGTON, WV - Emily Russell (Averill Park, NY/Academy of Holy Names) notched her second hat trick of the season to help lead the Buffalo women's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over Marshall on Friday night. The victory snapped the Bulls' four-game winless streak.

The senior forward scored the game's first goal, unassisted, in the 42nd minute to give the Bulls a 1-0 halftime advantage. Russell's second goal came in the 71st minute off a pass from Lauren West (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) to give UB a 2-0 lead. Russell struck again four minutes later to complete the hat trick and give UB a 3-0 advantage. The three goals brings Russell's season total to a team-best 10.

Marshall's Jen Short knocked in a goal in the 83rd minute to spoil Anna-Lesa Calvert's (Dallas, TX/Bryan Adams) shutout bid. The sophomore netminder made two saves in the game.

With the win, the Bulls improve to 6-5-1 overall and 2-3-1 in the MAC. Marshall drops to 1-9-1 overall and 1-5-0 in the conference. Buffalo will next play at Ohio on Sunday afternoon.
