MOUNT PLEASANT, MI - Senior goalkeeper Anna-Lesa Calvert (Dallas, TX/Bryan Adams) became just the third goaltender in the history of the Mid-American Conference to reach 300 career saves, but the University at Buffalo women's soccer team fell to MAC-frontrunner Central Michigan, 1-0, at the Central Michigan Soccer Complex on Sunday afternoon.

Laura Roberts spoiled the milestone-establishing day, as she got a cross from Rosamaria Rago in the 73rd minute at the top of the goal box and blasted a shot into the upper right corner of the net to give Central Michigan (4-5-2 overall, 3-0-1 MAC) the 1-0 lead.

Buffalo (3-7-1 overall, 1-3 MAC) outshot Central Michigan, 5-3, in the first half, but Central Michigan kept pressure on in the second stanza, as it took eight shots, forcing Calvert to make five of her six saves in the latter half.

The Bulls forced Chippewas' keeper Anne Decker to make three stops, as freshman Andrea Vescio (Niagara Falls, Ontario/A.N. Myer) took two shots on goal and led Buffalo with three of the team's seven shots.

"We played well," head coach Jean-A. Tassy said. "We just couldn't capitalize on our chances."

Calvert, who has started for the Bulls the last four years, joined the exclusive 300-save club with her fourth save on Friday, coming in the second half. She joins Erika Flanders of Bowling Green (1999-2002, 473 saves) and Lindsey Mitchell of Kent State (1999-2002, 362 saves) as the only goalkeepers in the MAC to reach 300 saves. She is also the fourth goaltender to reach 300 career saves in UB history, joining Nicole Pittaro (1992-95, 414 saves), Jaime Adams (1997-2000, 340 saves) and Rachelle Galipeau (1991-94, 334 saves).

Buffalo will look to rebound on Friday as it hosts MAC-leading Western Michigan in a Mid-American Conference match at 4:00 pm at UB Stadium.
