Bulls Fall to Chippewas, 1-0BUFFALO, NY- The University at Buffalo women’s soccer team dropped a MAC contest Sunday afternoon, falling to the Central Michigan Chippewas, 1-0. Freshman Stephanie Martin scored what proved to be the game-winner for the Chippewas with senior Rosamaria Rago inking the assist.
The first half concluded following an evenly played 45 minutes, with neither team able to score. The second half played out differently, however, as Martin snuck the ball past outstretched Buffalo goalkeeper Amy Coron (Farmington, NY/ Victor) to get the Chippewas on the board. The Bulls were never able to find space between the pipes despite finishing the contest with a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.
CMU fired 16 shots on the afternoon while UB finished with five shots in the game. Buffalo goalkeeper Coron notched three saves in the contest, while Chippewa goalkeeper Anne Decker finished with zero saves vs. the Bulls. With the setback, the Bulls are now 4-7-0 (1-3-0 MAC) while Central Michigan improves to 9-2-0 (2-2-0 MAC). UB returns to action Friday, October 6 with a game against Western Michigan. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 pm. |
