Women's Soccer Wins Third Straight

Bulls Beat Defending MAC Champ 3-1

BUFFALO, NY — The University at Buffalo women's soccer team won their third-straight game with a 3-1 win over Eastern Michigan. The win improves the Bulls to 8-4-0 overall and 4-1-0 in conference play and in the hunt for the league lead.

The Bulls controlled most of the first half of action, and capitalized in the 31st minute. Elizabeth Pfeffer (Liverpool, NY/Cicero North Syracuse) took a ball from the left side and sent it into the box where Devon Russell (Albany, NY/Academy of the Holy Names) scored on a header. Buffalo would add to that lead a few minutes later. Paula Listrani (Rochester, NY/Greece-Athena) hit a free kick into Pfeffer, who snuck by the EMU defenders and shot it past Eagles' goalie Sarah Willis at the 35:28 mark for a 2-0 UB lead at halftime.

In the second half, UB got an early goal as Listrani dished the ball from the right side of the box to Lindsay Mislin (Tonawanda, NY/Tonawanda), who broke free on the left side and had a wide open net, scoring her first career goal. Eastern Michigan kept the pressure on and finally got on the scoreboard late in the game. Off a corner kick, Meghan Williams deflected the ball to Amanda Kulikowski, who snuck the ball past UB goalkeeper Jaime Adams (Rochester, NY/Greece-Athena) and ended UB's hopes of a third-straight shutout.

With the win, the Bulls stay in the hunt for the MAC lead with the win, improving to 4-1-0 in conference play and 8-4-0 overall, while Eastern Michigan falls to 4-6-2 overall and 2-3-0 in the MAC.
