Women's Soccer Wins In OT

Bulls Defeat MAC Foe Ball State 3-2 In Extended Period

BUFFALO, NY - Sophomore Robin Aparo (Victor, NY/Victor Central) scored with 3:13 left in overtime to give the University at Buffalo women's soccer team a 3-2 victory over Ball State in Mid-American Conference action on Sunday afternoon. The Bulls improved to 5-5 overall and 4-2 in the MAC while Ball State dropped to 7-2 overall and 2-2 in the MAC.

After a scoreless first half, Ball State struck first, scoring two goals in the first 19 minutes of the second half to take a 2-0 lead. The Bulls, however, responded quickly as senior

Paula Sinclair (Hamilton, Ontario/Barton Secondary) notched her fourth goal of the season just :38 after the second Cardinals' goal. Sophomore Erin McGarry (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Balston Lake) followed with her first goal of the season on a penalty kick to tie the game at the 77:43 mark. The teams then traded offensive opportunities late in regulation and throughout the overtime period before Aparo knocked in the game winner. Junior Elizabeth Pfeffer (Liverpool, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) was credited with the assist on the game-winner, her second point of the day after assisting on Sinclair's earlier tally.

Junior Emily Cox (Fairport, NY/Fairport) had a strong game in goal for the Bulls, stopping eight Ball State shots. Buffalo held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks with both teams recording 13 shots.

The Bulls will close out their MAC home schedule next weekend when they host Northern Illinois (Friday, October 5, at 4 p.m.) and Western Michigan (Sunday, October 7, at 1 p.m.).
