Women's Soccer Beats Eastern Michigan in Double-Overtime Thriller

Andrea Sullivan scores gamewinner in 102nd minute

BUFFALO, NY - Andrea Sullivan's (Dublin, OH/Dublin Coffman) goal, 1:44 into the second overtime, gave the UB women's soccer team a 2-1 win over Eastern Michigan. It marked the first overtime win for the Bulls, who had tied the previous four times that they reached the extra stanza.

Devon Russell (Averill Park, NY/Academy of the Holy Names) got the Bulls on the board first, in the 39th minute, when she intercepted a clearing pass from Eastern Michigan goalkeeper Nikki Allen and scored in traffic. It was Russell's second goal of the season. The Eagles got the equalizer when Courtney Sindelar took a centering pass and launched a shot past Bulls' goalkeeper Emily Cox (Fairport, NY/Fairport). Sullivan's gamewinner was set up by a perfect centering pass threaded off the foot of Nicole Olszewski (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster). Sullivan headed the ball past EMU goalkeeper Aryn McCumber, who had replaced Allen at halftime.

With the win, the Bulls improve to 2-2-4 overall and 2-1-1 in the MAC. Eastern Michigan drops to 2-6-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the conference.
