Record-Saver

Senior Anna-Lesa Calvert (Dallas, TX/Bryan Adams), who stopped 11 shots in Friday's 1-0 loss to Niagara, is 16 saves shy of 300 in her career, which would make her one of three goaltenders in Mid-American Conference history to reach the plateau. She passed Ball State's Megan Swafford of Ball State (2000-03) for third place in MAC history with her second save of Friday's game.

Spreading Time

Fourteen of Buffalo's 20 position players have already started a game this season, and top reserve sophomore Katie Fage (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem Central) has seen significant action in all seven games, although she has not started.

On the Board

Niagara's 1-0 shutout of Buffalo was the first time in the first seven games that the Bulls were held scoreless, despite Buffalo taking 17 shots and forcing Niagara keeper Katy Owings to make 14 saves.

Despite facing three regionally-ranked teams in its first seven games, Buffalo averaged 14 shots a game and has put the ball in the net nine times entering the MAC season.

Grudge Matches

Coming to Buffalo this weekend for the opening of the Mid-American Conference season are two grudge matches for the Bulls. Miami, who Buffalo has beaten once in nine meetings, comes to UB Stadium for a Friday night showdown. In 2002, the last meeting of the two teams on Buffalo's home ground, the Bulls scored a 3-1 win over the RedHawks.

On Sunday comes Ball State, who has beaten Buffalo the last three times they have faced in a two-goal loss last year, an overtime loss at UB in 2003, and a one-goal loss in 2002. In 2001, Buffalo won 3-2 in overtime at home.

Drawing a Crowd

Friday's game at UB Stadium drew 346 fans for the Big 4 match with Niagara, one of the three largest crowds the Bulls have drawn in the last five years. Last year's Canisius game drew 350 fans to RAC Field to see the Bulls win 4-0 and in 2001, a Buffalo-Miami matchup was watched by 375 fans.

On the Air

Friday night's game against Miami (OH) will be heard on WLVL 1340 AM, the first women's soccer game to ever be heard over the airwaves. The game, with play-by-play by former Geneseo soccer standout Chris Brown, will be available online at .
