Career Day For Frosh

Freshman midfielder Caitlin Higgins (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) was recently named UB Female Athlete of the Week following her performance in Buffalo’s 3-2 victory over Canisius. Higgins exploded offensively, scoring her first two career goals. Through the Bulls’ first seven games of the season, Higgins has played in all seven games, starting five. Currently, Higgins is second on the team in points with five and leads the team in shots taken, with 10.

Griffiths Going Strong

UB junior forward Heidi Griffiths (Clarence, NY/ Clarence) continued her stellar offensive production for the Bulls last week, notching a goal and an assist in the Bulls’ 3-2 triumph over Canisius. Additionally, Griffiths ranks first in the MAC in total points per game, averaging 1.8 and is tied for second place in total goals scored, with four. Griffiths leads the team in goals scored, with four while the junior is tied with sophomore Brooke McCalla (Pickering, Ontario/Dunbarton) at the top of the assist chart, each owning a duo on the season.

The Bulls snapped a three game losing streak on Friday afternoon, downing cross-town rival Canisius 3-2. With the win, UB head coach Jean-A. Tassy is just four games away from reaching the 100-win mark in his tenure at Buffalo. In his 11th season with the Bulls, Tassy owns a 96-80-18 career record.

Up Next

The Bulls kick open the Mid-American Conference portion of their schedule on Friday, Sept. 22 at 4:00 pm on the road at Miami (OH). The RedHawks are currently 3-4 including victories over Morehead State, Wyoming and Northern Colorado. Buffalo will then take on Ball State on Sunday, Sept. 24 at 1:00 pm. The Cardinals are 5-1-2 and have won their last four games.
