BUFFALO, NY - Despite outshooting Niagara in each half and forcing Niagara's keeper to make 14 saves, the University at Buffalo women's soccer team fell, 1-0, Friday night as Niagara's Brittany Bisnott scored on a breakaway in the 86th minute to spoil Buffalo's first game at UB Stadium.

Bisnott, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's leading scorer, sent the rain-soaked crowd of 346 home disappointed as she stole the ball on a UB pass and broke away. She was caught from behind at the 10-yard line by a Buffalo (2-4-1 overall) defender, but after the defender blocked the shot, she got entangled with the goalkeeper, allowing Bisnott to grab the rebound and put it in the center of the net.

Niagara (5-1-1 overall) was put on the defensive for most of the game, especially in the first half, as Buffalo took eight shots, forcing goalkeeper Katy Owings to make seven saves. The Bulls opened the second half as a shot by senior Natalia Crofut (East Aurora, NY/Iroquois) hit the crossbar. The pressure was left on, forcing seven more saves from Owings, who made 14 overall.

Niagara did manage 10 shots in the second half, forcing senior Anna-Lesa Calvert (Dallas, TX/Bryan Adams) to stop eight shots in the half. Calvert made three stops in the first frame, including a diving stop.

The senior goalkeeper has 284 career saves, just 16 shy of becoming the third goalkeeper in MAC history to save 300 shots in a career.

Buffalo will look to start of its Mid-American Conference season with a win, as it opens up Friday at UB Stadium with rival Miami (OH) at 7:00 pm.
