BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's soccer team cruised past Northern Illinois, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon at RAC Field. Nicole Olszewski (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) scored two goals to help lead the way for UB.

Buffalo wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as Olszewski took a centering pass from Natalia Crofut (East Aurora, NY/Iroquois) and slipped it past Northern Illinois goalkeeper Carrie Dvorak just 2:23 into the contest to make the score 1-0. Crofut scored her fourth goal of the season in the 24th minute to increase the UB lead to 2-0. Olszewski struck again nearly four minutes later off a pass from Erin McGarry (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) to give the Bulls a 3-0 lead at the half.

Arielle Korczykowski (Derby, NY/Lake Shore) fed Jenny Dannecker (East Amherst, NY/Holy Angels Academy) for her first goal of the season, in the 79th minute, to make the score 4-0.

The Bulls dictated the pace of play and kept the ball at the Huskies' end of the field for much of the afternoon. UB outshot Northern Illinois, 24-6. It was the third shutout of the season for the Bulls. UB's starting goalkeeper Anna-Lesa Calvert (Dallas, TX/Bryan Adams) needed to make only one save to earn the victory.

With the win, the Bulls improve to 5-2-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the MAC. Northern Illinois falls to to 1-4-0 overall and 0-1-0 in the conference. Buffalo will return to action on Sept. 19 when it travels to Central Michigan to face the Chippewas.
