ITHACA, NY - Two goals in the waning minutes of the first half helped lift the Ivy League's Cornell to a 2-1 win against the University at Buffalo's women's soccer team in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon at Berman Field.

The Bulls (2-3-1 overall) got on the board first, as senior Natalia Crofut (East Aurora, NY/Iroquois) scored in her second straight game, getting a pass at the center of the field from freshman Jenessa Banwell (Toronto, Ontario/Birchmount Park) and firing into the left corner of the net in the seventh minute.

Crofut has a team-high seven points on three goals and one assist and is just three points away from becoming the first player since all-time leading scorer Paula Listrani (1997-2000) to score at least 10 points in all four of her seasons. Crofut is eighth in school history with both 52 points and 21 goals.

Down 1-0, Cornell (3-0 overall) went on the offensive in the 42nd minute, as Kara Ishikawa delivered a feed ahead to Caitlin Oliver for her first goal of the season. Mariye Wick rebounded a free kick shot from Kelly Bowen that hit the crossbar and deposited in the goal two minutes later to give Cornell the 2-1 lead heading into the half.

Buffalo took seven shots in the second half and forced Taylor Hendron to make three saves in the frame, but couldn't tie the score.

Cornell took 25 shots, including nine from Oliver and seven from Shannon Fraser. Buffalo managed 13 shots.

Hendron made seven stops for Cornell and Buffalo keeper senior Anna-Lesa Calvert (Dallas, TX/Bryan Adams) stopped eight.

Buffalo ends its six-game long season opening road trek by finally opening its home slate Friday with a 7:00 pm game against Niagara at its new home field, UB Stadium.
