IRVINE, CA – The University at Buffalo women’s soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to host UC-Irvine Sunday night at the Puma Classic. The loss drops UB to 2-4 on the season as it returns from the West Coast.

Makenzie Beahm scored the only goal in the contest, putting the ball in the net off of a corner kick in the 28th minute. It would be the only goal allowed by redshirt freshman Amy Coron (Farmington, NY/Victor), who made six saves on the evening.

The game was close throughout as the Bulls were out-shot, but just slightly, at a 15-13 mark. Coming off her first career goal, freshman Cheyra Bell (Warwick, Bermuda/Bermuda Institute) put two shots on net, which were tops on the team.

Despite the loss, senior Jessica Roesch (Centennial, CO/Grandview) and sophomore Brooke McCalla (Pickering, Ontario/Dunbarton) were named to the all-tournament team. The Bulls finished fourth at the Puma Classic after dropping a decision on Friday to eventual tournament champion, UC-Riverside.

The Bulls return home for their second home contest of the season, when they take on cross-town rival, Canisius at UB Stadium on Friday, Sept. 15. The match is set to begin at 4:00 pm.
