Women's Soccer Drops HeartbreakerFAIRFIELD, CT - Fairfield's JulieAnne Forman broke a scoreless tie at the 97:55 mark of the first overtime to give the Fairfield University Stags a 1-0 victory over the University at Buffalo in women's soccer action on Friday night. The Bulls fall to 1-2 on the season while Fairfield improves to 3-0. Both teams had several opportunities late in regulation and into the first few minutes of overtime before Forman knocked in a rebound for the game winner.
Junior Emily Cox (Fairport, NY/Fairport) made eight saves in a strong effort in goal for the Bulls. Sophomore Nicole Olszewski (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) was the main offensive threat for Buffalo, recording four shots. Also offensively for the Bulls, sophomore Emily Russell (Albany, NY/Academy of the Holy Name) collected three shots while twin-sister Devon Russell (Albany, NY/Academy of the Holy Name) had two shots of her own. The 1-2 start for the Bulls marks their worst start since the 1997 season. Last year, Buffalo began the season 3-0 and finished with an overall record of 14-6-1. noon) before they come back home to host conference-rival Akron on Friday, September 14, at 7 p.m. |
