The first half was scoreless for both teams with UB outshooting the Bonnies 4-3. Lindsey Bailey gave Buffalo their first shot on goal of the game at the 24:51 mark to test the Bonnies goalkeeper. Aubrey Stahl and Velez also had scoring chances in the first half but couldn’t find the back of the net.

Velez netted Buffalo’s only goal of the game off a pass from Bailey less than three minutes into the second half to put the Bulls up by one. Their lead didn’t last long as St. Bonaventure came back with a goal of their own less than a minute later to tie it up. The Bonnies put another one past Buffalo goalkeeper Danielle Quigley at the 57:41 mark to take the lead. The Bonnies added one more with just six minutes remaining to seal the win. Velez had a team high four shots.

The Bulls have their home opener up next, taking on local rival Niagara on Wednesday, September 9. The game is set for 7:30 pm at UB Stadium.
