Women’s Soccer Stumbles Against Brown

Bulls fall 6-0 to Bears, even record at 2-2

Providence, RI- The University at Buffalo women’s soccer team suffered a tough 6-0 setback, falling to Brown University on a rainy Sunday afternoon in Providence, RI.

The Bulls were able to hold the Bears scoreless until midway through the first half, when Susie Keller put Brown on the scoreboard 30:15 into the game. Melissa Kim struck again five minutes later to give the Bears a 2-0 advantage heading into halftime.

Brown continued its scoring barrage in the second-half of play, taking UB for four more goals. Kathryn Moos, Kathleen Waddell and Mica Bayard all scored their first goals of the season for the Bears, while Lindsay Cunningham netted her second of the season.

UB used a total of 21 players as well as two different goalkeepers. Sophomore Amy Coron (Farmington, NY/ Victor) grabbed nine saves while allowing four Brown goals in 73:40 minutes in goal while freshman Rachel Cavosie (Waterford, NY/ Catholic Central) made her career debut between the pipes. Cavosie inked one save and allowed two goals in 16:20 of game time.

Brown’s Brenna Hogue was rarely tested in goal, recording zero saves on the afternoon. Buffalo’s offense fired seven shots in the contest, while the Bears collectively unleashed 28 shots of their own.

UB will return to action on Friday, Sept. 8 when the Bulls travel to the UC-Irvine Nike Invitational , commencing with a 5:30 pm game against Riverside.
