Dolphins Come From Behind to Tie Bulls, 2-2
Buffalo (1-1-1 overall) jumped out to an early lead despite only taking four shots in the first half, as senior Natalia Crofut (East Aurora, NY/Iroquois) dribbled down the field and beat the keeper for her first goal of the season in the seventh minute. Crofut is now just seven points shy of entering the Mid-American Conference’s top 25 all-time leading points scorers and becoming the first Buffalo player since all-time leading scorer Paula Listrani (1997-2000) to score at least 10 points in all four of her seasons.
In the second half, Keri Zwikker and Jenny Borschel hooked up on two one-touch plays to bring the Dolphins (0-2-1 overall) back from the 2-0 deficit to tie the game with 14 minutes remaining. Jacksonville was able to keep the ball on the offensive end in the second half after managing just two shots in the first half, as it took six shots and earned four corners in the second half. However, Buffalo still managed nine shots in the half and outshot Jacksonville in every period except the first overtime, when each team took one shot. Buffalo senior Anna-Lesa Calvert (Dallas, TX/Bryan Adams) made two saves in goal, making one in overtime. Jacksonville keeper Michelle Kmiotek stopped five shots, including two in the extra periods.
The Bulls are back in action on Monday as they face off against host
Central Florida, ranked 27th in the nation by SoccerBuzz.com, at 1:30 pm.
