Buffalo Ties Colgate, 1-1

Bulls earn two ties at Syracuse Orange Classic

SYRACUSE, NY - The Buffalo women's soccer team tied Colgate, 1-1, at the Syracuse Orange Classic Tournament on Sunday. It marks the second game in a row the Bulls have tied their opponent.

Colgate got on the board first when Kelly Kuss scored in traffic in front of the net at the 30:28 mark. The Bulls tied the game in the 66th minute when Erin McGarry (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) scored on a penalty kick. It was McGarry's second goal of the season.

Both goalkeepers were solid in net as Bulls' goalie Emily Cox (Fairport, NY/Fairport) and Raiders' netminder Kate Jassin each made seven saves and allowed one goal.

The Bulls are now 0-0-2 on the season. It is the first time in school history that UB has started the season with two ties. They will next face Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the opening game of the Purdue Boilermaker Challenge Cup played in West Lafayette, IN on Sept. 6. The game is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m.
