Women's Soccer Drops Opener to St. Bonaventure

Bonnies blank Bulls, 4-0

OLEAN, NY - Karry O'Malley and Heather MacDougall each scored twice as St. Bonaventure topped Buffalo 4-0 in the 2004 season opener at McGraw-Jennings Field on Friday afternoon.

O'Malley, a sophomore, scored unassisted in the 15th minute to give the Bonnies (1-0 overall) the early lead. That was all the offense they would muster in the first half, though, as the Bulls' defense limited the Bonnies to two shots in the period.

St. Bonaventure turned the jets on in the second half, as O'Malley scored on an assist from McDougall in the 64th minute. McDougall, a junior, added a goal in the 87th minute on a dish from senior Cheryl Benacci and another goal a minute and a half later on a pass from freshman Jacquee Parmiter.

The Bulls (0-1 overall) took just one shot in the loss and the Bonnies fired nine.

Senior Anna-Lesa Calvert (Dallas, TX/Bryan Adams) made two saves in the loss for Buffalo and sophomore Lisa Eberhart didn't have to make a save in the shutout for St. Bonaventure.

Buffalo's next game is Sunday's home opener against Syracuse at 1:00 p.m. at RAC Field.
