BUFFALO, NY - Soccer Buzz Magazine released its annual list of women's soccer recruiting class rankings on Friday and for the second consecutive year, the University at Buffalo garnered a spot in the Northeast Region rankings, coming in 16th out of the region's 40 teams.

Connecticut, a member of the BIG EAST Conference, came out first in Soccer Buzz's Northeast Region rankings, with Boston College, Syracuse, Northeastern and Yale rounding out the top five.

Head coach Jean-A. Tassy and recruiting coordinator Kris Eckert signed Jenessa Banwell (Toronto, Ontario/Birchmount Park Collegiate Institute), Amy Coron (Farmington, NY/Victor), Sara Hilliard (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island), Melissa Klein (North Bellmore, NY/Mepham), Brooke McCalla (Pickering, Ontario/Dunbarton), Julia Teskey (Markham, Ontario/Brother Andre), Andrea Vescio (Niagara Falls, Ontario/A.N. Myer), and Nikki Wilson (El Paso, TX/Franklin) to play this fall.

Buffalo is one of six teams from the MAC to earn a nod on the regional lists, as Bowling Green (14th), Ohio (19th), Miami (OH) (20th), Western Michigan (24th) and Akron (25th) earned slots on the Great Lakes Region list. In all, the MAC was ranked 13 out of 31 conferences for strongest recruits, with the Atlantic Coast and Big Ten Conferences drawing the highest rankings for recruiting classes..

In 2004, Buffalo earned a ranking of 19th in the Northeast region, with a recruiting class that featured All-MAC Freshman team member Courtney MacVie (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East).

In 2000, Buffalo was listed as one of the Best of the Rest in the Northeast for a recruiting class that brought in two-time Mid-American Conference all-star Brenna McJury (Brockport, NY/Brockport) and All-MAC Academic goaltender Anna-Lesa Calvert (Dallas, TX/Bryan Adams).

Buffalo finished 7-11-1 and in ninth place in the Mid-American Conference under Tassy in 2004.
