BUFFALO, NY - Head coach Jean-A. Tassy has announced that Sara Hilliard (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) will join the University at Buffalo women's soccer program in 2005.

Hilliard, a 5-7 midfielder/forward, played for coach Peter Prozik, on a Grand Island High School team that was at least a New York Class A state semi-finalist in each of the last three years. She was a first-team Niagara-Frontier League selection as a senior and also participated on the Vikings' basketball, lacrosse and track programs. She was named an Academic All-American in lacrosse and was also her high school's Female Athlete of the Year in 2004. She was a member of the Buffalo United club soccer program.

"Sara will be a utility player for us, at midfield as well as on top," Tassy said. "Her decision making, vision and her technical awareness with the ball will help considerably in the fall. She loves to go to goal and won't hesitate to find the net. She will be a great asset to our program."

Hilliard joins Jenessa Banwell (Toronto, Ontario/Birchmount Park Collegiate Institute), Amy Coron (Farmington, NY/Victor), Melissa Klein (North Bellmore, NY/Mepham), Brooke McCalla (Pickering, Ontario/Dunbarton), Julia Teskey (Markham, Ontario/Brother Andre), Andrea Vescio (Niagara Falls, Ontario/A.N. Myer), and Nikki Wilson (El Paso, TX/Franklin) as Buffalo's Class of 2009.

Buffalo finished 7-11-1 and in ninth place in the Mid-American Conference under Tassy in 2004.
