BUFFALO, NY – Women's soccer standout Andrea Vescio (Niagara Falls, Ontario/A.N. Myer) was recently honored as one of five inductees into the A.N. Myer Secondary School Athletes' Wall of Distinction. All five former athletes were first-time entries into the school's new hall of fame following exceptional careers ranging from the 1960's to the present decade.

The Athletes' Wall of Distinction was established this past year by Vito DiMartino, the head of the Physical Education department, as a part of the school's 50th anniversary which will be celebrated this weekend. The intentions are to nominate five former student-athletes every year.

Vescio, who played soccer, volleyball, basketball, badminton, and tennis from 2001-2005, was one of four A.N. Myer alums who attended the ceremony held last Thursday. Other honorees included current Toronto Raptors assistant coach Jay Triano, Bob Erwin, Nikki Johnson, and Barry Finlay. Vescio set the Marauders' record for most points in a season as a senior in soccer. She also was named the school's Female Athlete of the Year in all four years. Each of the honorees will have a plaque with a photo and a short description of their achievements in the school's gymnasium.

In her two-year UB career thus far, Vescio has scored eight goals in 34 games, including a team-high six goals this past season.
