Women's Soccer Releases 2005 Schedule
BUFFALO, NY Head coach Jean-A. Tassy has announced the University at Buffalo 2005 women's soccer schedule, which features season-opening tournaments at Army and Central Florida and new home turf, as it moves from RAC Field to the new artificial turf at UB Stadium. The season begins with two Patriot League opponents when Buffalo travels to West Point for the Army Tournament. On Friday, Aug. 26, the Bulls play Lehigh at 5:00 pm. The Mountain Hawks finished second in the Patriot League in 2004 with a 12-8 overall record. On Sunday, Aug. 28, Army hosts the Bulls in a 1:00 pm tilt. The Cadets finished 8-8-3 and in fourth in the league last year. The Bulls open their September schedule by traveling to Orlando, FL for the Central Florida Tournament. On Saturday, Sept. 3, Buffalo plays Jacksonville, an Atlantic Sun member, before playing Central Florida, who finished 2004 with a 17-4-2 record. The Knights earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament and head coach Amanda Cromwell was named the NISOA Coach of the Year. Buffalo returns to town the next weekend to face Big 4 rival Canisius at the Demske Sports Complex on Sept. 9 and also play the Ivy League's Cornell on Sept. 11. On Sept. 16, the Bulls complete their tune-up to the Mid-American Conference schedule with a 7:00 pm game at UB Stadium against Big 4 rival Niagara. The Bulls' home conference slate features matches with Miami (OH) (Sept. 23, 7:00 pm), Ball State (Sept. 25, 12:00 pm), Western Michigan (Oct. 7, 4:00 pm), Northern Illinois (Oct. 9, 1:00 pm), Akron (Oct. 21, 6:00 pm), Ohio (Oct. 23, 1:00 pm) and Kent State (Oct. 28, 6:00 pm). Buffalo travels to face Eastern Michigan (Sept. 30, 3:00 pm), Central Michigan (Oct. 2, 1:00 pm), Toledo (Oct. 14, 4:00 pm) and Bowling Green (Oct. 16, 1:00 pm) for conference tilts. Buffalo finished the 2004 season 7-11-1 under 10th-year head coach Tassy. |
